Our Mission
Founded in 1983, Joseph Academy provides a nurturing and challenging
environment for young people. Our mission is to serve children
and adolescents with behavioral, emotional and learning disorders by
helping them develop the social, academic and vocational skills they
need to function successfully in society. The ultimate goal is to transform
these young people into achievers who can effectively reenter the
mainstream. The members of the Joseph Academy staff are
trained to catch kids being good and affirm their self-worth through
constant interaction. Joseph Academy staff include special
education teachers, social workers, teaching assistants, vocational
education personnel, a program consultant, psychologist, nurse and physical education teachers.

treat the whole environment."
-Tom Monticello, Business Manager

diplomas, recognized by the North Central Association, Illinois
State Board of Education and by local school districts.
Three-quarters of Joseph Academy's former students find
themselves today not in hospitals, institutions, or
correctional facilities, but living as productive citizens.
